Meet Heather!
I am an ERYT-500 and first became utterly hooked on vinyasa yoga in the fall of 2009, after a maddening brush with cabin fever. Having recently relocated back to NEPA, I happened into yoga while most in need of its many rewards — empowerment to liberate preconceived notions of one’s capabilities and limitations, fortified self-confidence through building one’s strength, balance, and focus, and the comfort of learning to make peace with the moment, to remain calm no matter how uncomfortable the circumstances, to just be and breathe.
My background in Pilates, strength-training, nutritional wellness, ballet, and equestrian activities served me well but none of those pursuits compared to the unique solace I found, almost instantly, on the mat; the same solace that would slowly but certainly change my life.
Desiring to further honor that change and expand the role of yoga in my journey, I was certified by the Always-At-Aum Yoga School as an RYT-200 in vinyasa yoga in November 2010. In the time since, I’ve received additional advanced training in restorative yoga, completed a master class on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali under Pandit Rajmani Tigunait Ph.D, at the Himalayan Institute, upgraded my teaching certification to RYT-500, and have surpassed over 3500 hours of teaching. I am a featured faculty member with the Mission Yoga 200 HR Yoga Teacher Training program. To supplement my yogic pursuits, I have been attuned to the 2nd degree of Reiki.
My vinyasa practice remains consistently inspired by creative sequencing and unusual transitions influenced by dance and Pilates. I am ever dedicated to the deep relaxation and healing potential of Restorative yoga, and introducing students to the subtle beauty of essential oils aromatherapy.
In my spare time, I am an avid student of pole-dancing, aerial silks, sling, and aerial hoop.
